Test Your School RQ Why should a school use the RQ (Readiness Quotient) survey? The RQ Test enables schools to assess what actions they need to take to help students and employees prepare for an emergency. Encourage students and teachers to test their RQ and make a fun (or competitive) activity out of reporting their scores. Create a school-wide contest and acknowledge the group or department that is the most prepared. Once we receive this form, we will send you a password to administer the RQ test. You will be able to log on to the site and review your composite score. Individuals will receive their score as they complete the RQ test. Other Resources for Preparedness for Schools Preparedness at School Resources are available for parents, teachers and school administrators in order to help make schools a safe environment for children. For Parents Ready Kids and FEMA Kids provide valuable information for children. Other organizations providing useful information include the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) and the Home Safety Council. Encourage other parents and organizations like your local PTA to take test their RQ's. For Teachers and Administrators
PandemicFlu.gov includes a number of resources and checklists for school administrators at all levels to help create a preparedness plan in the event of a pandemic flu. The Red Cross also has an available curriculum -- Masters of Disasters -- that is aligned with National Education Standards and easily supplements teacher lesson plans.
